Garden Bouquet

zinnias, sunflowers, cosmos, cuttings from the butterfly bush (aka Mo Mo the Monster).

Between the bugs, the heat, the drought, and being trampled by the Beagle dogs tracking the cats, my flowers have struggled this year. I've left the sunflowers standing after they bloomed so that the birds could eat the seeds this fall/winter. However, some sort of insect has eaten through the stalks causing the heads to fall off. This is disappointing since I plant to attract birds and butterflies and was looking forward to watching the birds pluck the seeds from the drooping heads. Maybe next year. The zinnias, orange cosmos, black-eyed susans and morning glories are still in bloom, and I expect they will be until October. I am thankful for the beautiful flowers that grace our yard.
