One of My Favorites!
This might be my all time favorite Christmas picture of Padraig. I took it at the Centerville Galleria Mall last year. I was hoping to recreate it this year for our Christmas card, but you're not allowed to use your personal camera. I just think it's a really sweet picture of my sweet little boy!

Elfie Nicky-Nacky and Cookie Cutter Ornaments
He's back! Our elf returned early Monday morning. He appeared atop the Christmas tree. He's here to keep a close eye on Padraig and report back to Santa.
On Sunday we made cookie cutter ornaments out of cornstarch, baking soda, and water. We let them dry overnight and Padraig painted them when he got home from school on Monday. He really took his time and did a great job! Can't wait to put them on the tree!

San Francisco - Day 5
Sunday was our last full day in San Francisco. Sid attended his conference that morning and when he got back to the room we took muni to the Aquarium of the Bay at Pier 39. The aquarium was small, but really nice and not crowded at all so we got to see every exhibit with ease. After the aquarium we walked around the pier and Fisherman's Wharf, and then we took the bus to City Lights Bookstore. After browsing the shelves, we took muni (Padraig's favorite part of being in SF) back to HotelTomo in Japantown to call it a night. For dinner I had the best Thai fried rice with tofu. It was yummy!
We got up at 4:00 AM (local time) this morning to get ready to leave. Getting through the San Francisco airport was a lot easier than in Atlanta, which was nice. The flight home was uneventful, except that Padraig was a little restless.
We had a really great trip and we survived our first big family vacation. I'm ready to plan the next!
I've posted more pictures from our California vacation on my Facebook. You can see them at

San Francisco Day 4 - Chinatown
Padraig and I spent most of Saturday morning watching cartoons and being lazy while Sid finished work on the paper he is presenting on Sunday. Around noon, we hopped on public transportation for Chinatown. Once there we ate lunch and visited the shops.

Playing at the Willie Wong Playground after having lunch at the Hang Ah Tea Room.
Standing in front of one of the many shops along Grant Ave.
What can I say?

San Francisco Day 3
On Friday we drove to Fairfield, CA to tour the Jelly Belly Factory. It was sweet! We were able to see how Jelly Belly beans are made. There was no photography allowed behind the scenes, so here are some pics from the Visitor's Center.
We had to wear these stylish hats on the tour.
Sid and Pag at the Sample Bar. They tried 7 Up and Dr. Pepper flavored Jelly Belly beans, and liked them a lot.
So many flavors!
Pag and Mama - with her baby belly!
Later that day we spent some time at the Golden Gate Bridge
Then we headed to Pier 39.
Pag liked this sculpture a lot.
The famous California Sea Lions lounging around.
There were so many Sea Lions!
A foggy view of Alcatraz.

San Francisco Day 2 -Muir Woods & Point Reyes Nat'l Seashore
On Thursday, we rented a car and headed away from the city. Our first stop was Muir Woods Nat'l Monument in Mill Valley, CA. Here we walked among the giant, ancient Redwoods. It was an awesome experience.
After leaving Muir Woods, we drove to Point Reyes National Seashore for stunning views of the Pacific Ocean.

Padraig's First Plane Trip
On Wednesday morning we boarded a plane headed to San Francisco, CA. It was Padraig's first plane trip. Moments after leaving the ground he looked out the window and exclaimed, "I like it up here!" Our flight time was a little less than 4 hours and 45 minutes, and we flew 2230 miles. A big trip for a little boy. He was very brave, and the pilot even gave him a card with a picture of the plane on it.
